Ordering vegan treats!
A twitter friend tweeted about picking up vegan treats from The Thirsty Whale Bakery, so of course I had to check it out for myself.

I submitted an inquiry on their Request a Quote page, and they responded right away to let me know hand pies are $3 (minimum of 6 per flavor) and cookies are $1 (minimum of 12 per flavor). Vegan cookies for one dollar!?! Yes, please, and thank you.
Flavors
Hand pie flavor offerings: cherry, apple, blueberry, triple berry, raspberry, lemon, pumpkin, strawberry
Cookie flavor offerings: almond sugar, lemon poppyseed, butterscotch oatmeal
I chose strawberry hand pies and butterscotch oatmeal cookies, and after some back and forth, we settled on a pick up date about two weeks out. The Request a Quote page notes that they typically book out one to two weeks, so plan accordingly. Once we finalized my order and pick up date/time, they emailed me an invoice so I could pay online.
Curbside pick-up
Curbside pick-up was easy as pie; you call in from your car, and they bring your order out to you. The treats looked amazing, and I couldn't wait to dig in.
Cookies
The butterscotch oatmeal cookies were pretty near perfectly - firmer on the outside, but not crunchy, and slightly soft in the center. They weren't overly sweet, but definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. I wouldn't have minded more butterscotch chips, but I would order these again in a heartbeat.
Handpies
As for the strawberry hand pies, they're cute as can be. I was only disappointed that they didn't have much filling. It was more of a coating around the inside rather than a filling. The flavor was great, and the pastry was sturdy but soft.
I'm so appreciative of The Thirsty Whale for offering these vegan treats! What are some of your favorite places that have vegan baked goods?
