Vegan Pizza in the Twin Cities
The Twin Cities offers a wide variety of vegan pizza options. This is a list of where I’ve been and what I’ve had. The restaurants range from sit-down table service to quick-serve casual. The brand of vegan cheese varies among the restaurants.
Parkway Pizza
All 4 Parkway Pizza locations feature meats from The Herbivorous Butcher and Follow Your Heart cheese. My favorite is the Vegavore, and the Artichoke Dip is divine. In addition to pizza options, they have appetizers, hoagies, and pasta.
Pizza Lucé
Pizza Lucé has long been a staple in the Twin Cities thanks to several locations and accommodating a range of dietary needs. Let’s face it, their housemade rinotta (nut-based) cheese is a huge incentive to go (it has a kick!) and they also use Violife mozzarella. They offer seasonal specials which always have at least a couple vegan or vegan-upon-request options. My go-tos are the Fire Breathing Dragon or a simple veggie pizza (if you haven’t had asparagus on pizza before, this is the perfect place to give it a whirl), along with Garlic Cheese Bread.
Broadway Pizza
There are several Broadway Pizza locations in the Twin Cities and beyond, not to be confused with the single Broadway Pizza in Robbinsdale. You can enjoy plant-based cheese and sausage on your pizza, along with the traditional veggie toppings. They also have some non-pizza plant-based offerings.
Sarpino’s
Sarpino's has vegan options with Daiya cheese and Beyond. Not all locations have all the pizzas listed on their vegan page, but you'll at least find a separate vegan menu listed when you order online. I ordered for the first time from the Oakdale location, and the sausage was dry and flavorless. Otherwise, I enjoyed it, along with the Cheesy Bread. They also have pasta and calzone vegan options.
Can Can Wonderland
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the vegan pizza at Can Can Wonderland. It's topped with spinach pistou (similar to pesto but not the same), olives, roasted onion, smoked almonds, and Daiya cheese. This pizza has a really nice heat which I didn't expect. Even the Daiya was good, so I'm not sure what kind of magic they're working at Can Can, but I'm all for it.
