Vegan Hot Pot at Jasmine 26
Jasmine 26 is a Vietnamese hot pot restaurant and bar in Minneapolis, just south of downtown. The Salt and Pepper Tofu appetizer was a favorite from their previous restaurant concept, so I’m happy to have them back after being closed during a portion of the pandemic.
The area mainly offers street parking, and I can typically easily find a spot on 1st Ave S to the east of the restaurant.
Hot Pot
The hot pots are intended to be for one person, but if you get an appetizer and a hot pot, it’s a good amount for two people to share. The Sichuan Spicy, Green Curry, Tom Kha, and Herbal Vegan broths can be made vegan or are vegan. You’ll get noodles, tofu, baby bok choy, and cabbage on the side to prepare. The pots I’ve had arrived already filled with mushrooms, lotus root, corn, taro root, and a couple other small bites.
You can order other things off the a la carte menu, but everything that comes standard is more than enough for me. The Herbal Vegan is savory with a sweetness to it; I prefer the Green Curry broth, personally.
Noodles
The purple yam noodles, udon noodles, and glass noodles are vegan so take your pick! I prefer udon since I love a big, chewy noodle.
This is fun experience, and I enjoy the interactive element. The staff will explain how to change the temperature level of your induction burner and you can cook everything however you prefer. If you like to be prepared, you can check out the How To on their website. They have a wide selection of beverages, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Check it out for yourself and let me know which broth is your favorite!
